In order to be able to use products in the medical field, the products must fulfill high requirements in terms of safety and performance, in particular cleanliness and purity from foreign substances. This is where a self-developed 3D printing production in the clean room is used at VIVE-MedTech: The VIVECube - Clean Precision is a precise and reliable clean room 3D printer for processing thermoplastics. igus drylin drive axles were used for the 3D printer. In addition, polymer bearings are used at various points.

X-axis plain bearing: An igus WSX double rail is used here as the "stoop axis". This offers very good bending stiffness for the application. A self-designed carriage with drylin® fixed and floating bearings as well as iglidur® A180 liner runs on the rail.

Y-axis plain bearing: drylin® W single rails run parallel on both sides of the bridge axis, on each of which a self-designed carriage with drylin® fixed and floating bearings as well as iglidur® A180 liners are also used.

Z-axis plain bearings: Four parallel drylin® R aluminum shafts are used for the robust guidance of the print platform. The print platform is guided on the shafts by means of self-designed carriages with drylin® fixed and floating bearings as well as iglidur® A180 liners. X/Y drive train: Simple encapsulated stepper motors with coupled dryspin® steep-thread spindles are used both on the bridge axis in the X direction and on both parallel individual rails in the Y direction. The carriage of the X-axis as well as both parallel carriages of the Y-axis are then driven with matching dryspin® flanged lead screw nuts with wrench flats made of iglidur® A180. The steep threaded spindles are guided at the end in each case by means of igubal® stay and flange bearings.

Z-drive train: Two synchronously running encapsulated stepper motors with coupled trapezoidal leadscrews are also used to raise and lower the print platform. The print platform is driven by means of a matching flange threaded nut made of iglidur® A180.
