Schaeffler SLIDEKIT 2.0 | for Universal Robots

The SlideKit 2.0 adds an additional linear axis to Universal Robots collaborative robots, extending their work envelope with a 1000 mm stroke. Instead of deploying a larger robot to achieve greater reach, the existing automation solution can access multiple workstations, conveyor lines, or machine positions. This makes the system particularly well suited for applications such as machine tending, material handling, pick-and-place operations, and palletizing. The additional axis increases system flexibility and enables a single robot to efficiently cover larger work areas while improving the utilization of existing automation resources.

The SLIDEKIT-UR-BE-1000-22-SFM-S00 version has been specifically designed for seamless integration with Universal Robots and is officially compatible with the UR3, UR5, UR10, and UR16 models, as well as the CB-Series and e-Series. The system is delivered as a preconfigured robot transfer unit and includes the appropriate mechanical adapters for the supported robot platforms. This significantly reduces engineering effort and simplifies project implementation. In addition, robot and linear axis movements can be synchronized, enabling access to larger work areas without modifying the robot’s core architecture. Integrators particularly benefit from a standardized and predictable deployment process.

The SlideKit 2.0 is based on a ball screw drive system and is engineered for demanding industrial automation applications. It provides a maximum dynamic payload of 10,900 N. In addition, the system can withstand dynamic moments of up to 2400 Nm in Mx and up to 1800 Nm in zM. These performance characteristics support applications involving heavier loads and varying motion profiles. The design ensures reliable operation at ambient temperatures ranging from 0 to 50 °C and relative humidity levels of up to 95%. As a result, the linear axis is suitable for a wide range of production environments where robust and durable automation components are required.

A key advantage of a seventh robot axis is the ability to service multiple work areas with a single robot system. The SlideKit 2.0 provides the required linear motion along the production line and supports concepts such as multi-machine tending, servicing multiple manufacturing stations, or handling long conveyor systems. For machine builders and end users, this can reduce investment costs by eliminating the need for a dedicated robot at every station. At the same time, the system remains highly scalable, as the linear axis is designed as a standardized robot extension that can be used for a wide variety of tasks, from packaging and palletizing to quality inspection.
